Beta Blockers: Propranolol, Jervell-lange-nielsen Syndrome mnemonic

Jervell-Lange-Nielsen syndrome [Gerbil-Lange-Kneel-son]

Genetic, autosomal reccesive disorder of potassium ion channels
Characterized by:
- Deafness/hearing impairment [Gerbil has ear plugs that help him to study]
- Fainting [passed out because the Lange book was dry]
- QT prolongation [time seems very long when reading Lange, the tail shows long QT]
- Can lead to fatal arrhythmia and sudden death!
Usually presents in kids or teenagers [kneeling son]
Treated with beta blockers (i.e. propranolol [propane lollipop])
