Benzodiazepines: hypnotics

Flurazepam [floor ass-pamper - the hypnotic that knocks your ass out onto the floor]
- Longest acting [huge hour glass]
- Benzodiazepine [Benz - 2 - pines]
Temazepam [tea maze pamper]
- Intermediate duration of action, lasts most of the night [The maze takes till sunrise to end]
- Delayed effect - usually taken few hours before bed time [Bed is located well after the start of the maze]
Triazolam [Three lambs]
- Shortest duration [1-2-3 lambs and wake (sun) again]
Flumazenil [Flew maze Nile] [The fly flew the maze over Nile river]
- Displaces benzodiazepines from GABA receptors, and therefore reverses their effect [Benz-2-pine bag is knocked off (from the receptor)]
- Intravenous administration [syringe]
