Bretylium [Bra till yams]

• Used in life-threatening ventricular fibrillation and tachycardia [hearts with highlighted ventricles running (tachy), and fibrillating]
• Parenteral administration because of poor GI absorption [syringe]
• Renal excretion: dose must be adjusted in renal disease [vicious kidney chasing the bra-till-yum]
• Side effects include severe postural hypotension
