Vancomycin

Ineffective against Gram (-) bacteria [Red bacterium relaxing in a beach chair]
Slow intravenous administration [Slowly dripping needle-antenna]
- If too fast - "Red man syndrome" results
Used in patients with artificial heart valves & having dental work done [Heart with valves and teeth hood decoration]
Effective against Clostridium difficile and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus [Closet and staph in back seat]. NOTE: oral administration for intestinal C. difficile
Excreted via kidneys [Kidney door handles]
Side effects include fever [Fire hood decoration] and thrombophlebitis [clogged side step-up pipe]
Synergistic effect with aminoglycosides [A mine with sugar cube on the side tied to the back]
